hullo! i got a couple requests to make these intros longer. (i might have been one of those two requests as i’m going to partially treat these intros as my own personal standup time/brain dump.)
last month, i officially hit five years in la. since then, i’ve semi been spiraling and wondering how long i’ll stay? the urge to move to a quiet beachside town or somewhere in the woods is real. joe vann and his wife live in a tiny home in yosemite with a garden and they’re COOL, so maybe this is my new dream/destiny?
a random flex, here’s one of my favorite photos i’ve taken from that one week i stayed in a tiny home in the woods (complete with a sauna).
the desire to be somewhere quiet is for me, linked with slowing down and more space/nature. so this week, some songs that are about being outside (and also some that aren’t?)
new new:
if i were a butterfly: by rayland baxter. this is rayland’s first song since his iconic mac miller covers ep and the title song for his next album. it’s pretty psychedelic and has background vocals from my girl, lennon stella.
hot new find:
jacob banks: i’ve had by design on repeat this week. ty to my friend noah for sharing <3
circling back:
amber mark: i had a phase in covid where i would just put on the complete amber mark playlist for road trips and be very content. i’ve been listening to three dimensions deep (which is kind of a long album) again and it’s so good!! bliss + most men are some favorites.
playlist of the week:
a natural affair: the description, “i love outside!” is a direct quote from that bachelor spinoff that tried to get musicians to fall in love and collaborate (iykyk). some strong throwbacks on here (:
*please note, no plans to leave la were solidified in the writing of this newsletter*
